	A&E Briefs | Seattle Rep to Stage Shanley's " Doubt" The Seattle Times July 21, 2006 http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/artsentertainment/2003141295_briefs21.html The Seattle Repertory Theatre's local premiere of John Patrick Shanley's Tony Award-honored play "Doubt" will be directed by Warner Shook, according to the company. Shook is the former artistic head of Seattle's Intiman Theatre. The Rep announced that "Doubt" will include Kandis Chappell, as a nun who suspects a priest of sexually abusing a child, and Cynthia Jones as the child's mother. Also set: The Rep's Seattle premiere of Will Eno's hit Off Broadway solo play "Thom Pain (based on nothing)" will be performed by Todd Jefferson Moore and staged by Rep staffer Jerry Manning. The company also revealed that total ticket sales for its 2005-06 season slipped by 11 percent from 2004-05 (artistic director Sharon Ott's last season before handing the reins to the new Rep head, David Esbjornson.) Sales for the Rep's first two shows ("King Stag" and "Purgatorio") of the season faltered, but the box office success of several others (including August Wilson's "Radio Golf" and Amy Freed's "Restoration Comedy") boosted total sales. Four-show season for Annex Theatre In new digs at the Capitol Hill Arts Center, Annex Theatre plans to mount a four-show season in 2006-07, which will include two world-premiere scripts. Featured in the season, the hardy fringe ensemble's 20th: the premieres of "Small Town" by Kelleen Conway Blanchard and Brendan Healy's "The Secret Recordings of Lenin to His Lost Love, Marry Anne of Topeka, Kansas." Also on the calendar, two works by Seattle playwrights: John Kaufman's experimental piece "Line One," and "Tuesday" by Paul Mullin (last produced here in 1996 by AHA! Theatre).
